The Forex market is the currency market where all of the currencies of the world are traded. This market is unique for a variety of reasons primary among them the fact that it is open 24 hours a day. What Is Forex Trend Trading?

Advice for beginning to play the markets

Question: I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions as to the best online site to use to begin investing. I’m not looking to use a broker but rather make my own decisions and see how I could do because I find myself getting increasingly more interested in the markets and would like to start to get a feel for them. Preferably a site with smaller commissions and an abundance of technical information would be best. Thanks for your input.

Also, I believe RIMM, the company who makes blackberries, is due for a big drop in the near future for more reasons besides the iPhone and wondered if anyone had any input on that.

Answer 1: You just want to buy and sell stock shares? Or do you want to invest in bonds and the money market? Have you ever done it before? Do you have a nice amount of money to play with? If the answer to either of those questions is “no,” I don’t know if you should just dive in.

Mortgage company error = no insurance on my home: legal advice please!

My mortgage company F’d up big time and I need legal advice?

My old lender was recently bought out. The new lender contacted me several weeks ago asking for homeowners verification, and for the policy info, which I provided. I received a letter from my homeowners insurance company last week (I’ve been with this company for 10 years) informing me that they had not received payment and my policy was due to be canceled within a week if payment was not received.

Since my policy is paid through my lender via my escrow account, I had a total cow. It turns out that the mortgage company sent the premium to the wrong insurer. I was on the phone with both my lender and my insurance company all week last week trying to get this straightened out and, at the 11th hour, it looked like my lender had cut a new check and overnighted it to my insurer.

I learned from my insurer this morning that my lender shorted the check $11 and my policy is now canceled. Now, as I said, I’ve been with this insurance company for 10 years and no other insurance company around can come close to touching their rates. If I’m forced to go with another insurer, wouldn’t my lender be liable for anything above-and-beyond what I was paying?

The underwriters at the insurance co. already extended the policy 1 week past the cancellation date and our lender screwed up a second time, causing the policy to automatically cancel. We have no insurance right now, and my lender is supposedly overnighting payment to get the insurance reinstated. I plan on getting an escrow statement ASAP to ensure that I’m not paying for all of this overnighting and canceling of checks.

I’m so freaking angry right now I can’t think straight – what would you do?

Answer #1: I had a similar situation a number of years ago and basically what happened is that the lender can cure the deficit with the insurance company, but the policy will start new from the point that full payment is made. Whatever time has passed between the cancellation and the re-instatement is a liability to you and there are two options. One, you can sign an affidavit that states that you have no claims and will not file any claims for the liability period and move on, or, you will have to pressure your lender into agreeing to cover any liabilities you incurred during that period. I chose the former because it was 10 days and I had no claims. If you choose the latter it could take a while as you haggle with the lender.

Answer #2: Insurers are usually forgiving when it comes down to these issues unless you have a prior history of claims against the policy. I would send them the $11 dollars and ask them to ensure the policy is retroactive to the renewal date so you have continuous coverage for peace of mind.

PS. I hate it when people at these companies screw up, and then we have to spend a bunch of time on the phone doing their job. I think we should get paid for our time and effort from the company that screwed up.

basically I had to drive and hand deliver a check at the 11th hour so as not to get booted from the policy.

Answer #4: One better: My mortgage company was paying 2 insurance companies for a couple of years. In addition, they paid property tax on the wrong parcel for several years. I received a tax notice from my county, saying that I was 2 years behind. Anyway, my fault for not paying closer attention to my escrow payments, and in the end, I had to do all the legwork because the mortgage company really couldn’t care less. ABM-Amro is anyone cares to know.

Sorry, no advice there. But at least you know you’re not alone.

Tips for buying a Short Sale home

If a seller sells a house that they owe money on – more money than the house is worth – it is called a short sale. Since the bank is going to end up taking a loss, they need to approve the sale. Interestingly, often to buy a short sale home you have to be both patient and extremely fast. You might make an offer, wait for months, and then hear that you have 2 weeks to get all the paperwork done.

(1) Do your homework – check the land records in the town where the property is located. Is there a pending foreclosure? How many short payoffs will be required to obtain all necessary releases. If you are trying to do a short sale on a property that is already in foreclosure and you need to get a release of two mortgages and 7 judgments liens you may want to pass.

(2) Make sure the seller is completely on board. Have your agent consistently check up with them to see if they have an update. Frequently sellers become disinterested and ignore the bank’s request for updated financial information. The bank may be ready and you may be ready but you cant get far without the seller.

(3) Have all your ducks in a row regarding financing. If it is a property that needs work and you intend on getting an FHA insured loan you may lose your short sale approval during the time it takes to get your loan commitment. It is best to be preapproved and be ready immediately upon acceptance for appraisal, inspections, etc. A lender is loath to hold a short sale approval open for too long.

Still, the experience may not be smooth. One guy made an offer on a short sale property which the seller accepted. He had to put $3k down as earnest money. The seller’s real estate company said his was the only offer but what they didn’t tell me is that even though the house is pending approval the seller and/or the bank can accept other offers: “We never got more than a “keep waiting, it should be only a couple of more weeks.”

After about 3 months he wanted to pull the offer and start looking at other places, but they said he would have to eat the $3k if he did that. After 4 months they tell him the bank accepted another offer – he waited all that time for nothing.

You might be thinking that the bank treated this guy unfairly but keep this in mind. They are losing money on the sale – would you rush into a deal that was losing you money? So it’s not uncommon for short sale buyers to feel powerless or abused as they wait. Go into any short sale transaction with patience.

We’ve known this currency war is coming because it has to. An economy that depends on the whole world selling to US consumers, on credit, while taking America’s jobs and industries can not be sustained. Some people are trying to keep it propped up somehow but it can’t really work out that way, can it?

The way this plays out over the next couple of years is going to be pretty fascinating and will have a huge impact on our prosperity. Do you accept Martin Wolf’s assertion that the US will inevitably win the war by inflating internally through QE? If so at what price does this victory come and how do you invade inflation and high interest rates once the recovery comes?

To put it crudely, the US wants to inflate the rest of the world, while the latter is trying to deflate the US. The US must win, since it has infinite ammunition: there is no limit to the dollars the Federal Reserve can create. What needs to be discussed is the terms of the world

Atlanta real estate market

Like the state of Georgia, Atlanta has an unemployment rate higher than the national average (about 10.4 percent compared to 9 percent). The real estate market, specifically the slow down of new construction is said to be the problem according to Mark Butler, the Labor Commissioner.

Butler says that the recession hit just as metro Atlanta and Georgia were in one of the state’s biggest growth cycles, led by flourishing residential, commercial and industrial real estate development. When the real estate market and the economy took a dive, the over-leveraged construction industry collapsed.

“Our recovery is going to lag behind the rest of the nation,” Butler said.

What does that mean for the Atlanta real estate market and for investors? Zillow CEO Spencer Rascoff says that, “Similarly, many would-be sellers in today’s housing market are considering whether to become landlords rather than sell at a loss.”

The question then becomes what about Apartments in Atlanta and the rental prices? Zillow, rates Atlanta’s rental market as “fair” which isn’t good but which is better than a lot of markets. Rental prices have been on the rise, along with occupancy.

Speaking about how things have changed in the past couple of years:

“There was so much out there, so much available to lease, that apartment complexes and homeowners, they were giving things away just to get people in there,” said leasing agent Krystal Wilbanks. “But now, there are so many people out there renting, that it’s easier just to get them into the property, cause if you don’t take the property, the next person that comes and looks at it, they will take the property.”

Part of that, of course, is that there aren’t that many new apartments being built. You have to wonder how far behind the nation Atlanta is expected to lag considering that higher rental prices could bring a recovery in the construction industry and that would help solve the unemployment problem. Of course, until things start selling the construction industry will be fairly stagnant but increasing rent might be a sign that apartments will start selling eventually.

I would have guessed that ESL blog would have a better rank (due to the external links). I wonder if (supposing the links stayed exactly the same), the page rank would increase after a month or so.

I was trying to figure out why my reciprocal links page on eslgo.com had higher PR than my esl-blog.com site. I thought that in time, if the links stayed the same, PR on the esl-blog would meet or exceed the reciprocal links page. While we do know that old links are good, I don’t think that line of thoguht ever led anywhere.

I’ve since given up on Google PageRank and reciprocal link pages.

Not too long ago I wrote about the importance of getting 50 customers. More and more, I think this is the key to network marketing. If your products high qulaity, if they run out and need to be reordered (think vitamins and skin care for example), and you provide good service, these loyal customers will keep you in business. This is the foundation you need.

Now what always happens is that these customers talk to their friends who call you to learn about the products. That's great and once you reach the tipping point, your customer base will grow for as long as you're willing to meet new customers. As you continue meeting people some of them will be interested in doing what you do. That's you grow your network of distributors. It really all begins with the customer base.

Previosly, the keyword “ESL” was mentioned once in my ESL site’s title and heading. I recently changed the title so that it’s now mentioned 3 times: ESL go - free English as a second language: learning ESL + teaching ESL.
What kind of affect has this had? Not as significant an effect as I would have hoped. I seem to have moved up about 15 spots, from the mid-nineties to #80. Google has also registerd about 40 new links to my site (though my page rank is still 6) so link popularity may have also fueled the increase.

It’s not too different 4+ years later: “ESL - English as a second language learning & teaching ESL”

I haven’t looked at the title in years so it’s probably time to reevaluate. The site is #5 for ‘teaching ESL’ and I bet that if I remove that from the title I will lose a few spots. I like the learning, because I need people to know that the site is for both teachers and students when they see it listed in the serps. I may not change the title at all.

Anyway, SEO tip for choosing a title. Make it keywords or phrases you want to and can rank for. Also make sure it gives people a reason to click on your site when they do find it in the SERPs.

Solid state drives

I’ve always been an advocate of investing in faster hard drives. Typically, when someone is looking for a new laptop and starts talking about how they want a faster processor or more RAM or whatever, I’m the first person to say that they should go for the 7200 hard drive upgrades if available because few things will result in as noticeable an increase in speed as upgrading the system’s biggest bottleneck. All my HD’s on my home computer are 10k and I’d never go back. But I never had a chance to look at a system with a solid state drive until now.

And good God, the difference is profound! Everything the system does, it does noticeably faster. Of course it boots much faster, installs applications and updates faster, and shuts down faster. But even innocuous, not terribly demanding things like opening the control panel or launching Internet Explorer… they feel almost instantaneous.

If you’re looking for a new laptop anytime soon and you take speed very seriously, save on the processor and get a SSD drive. You won’t regret it.

One thing I like about network marketing is that you have an opportunity to meet friendly millionaires. The other day my wife and I had dinner and drinks with a millionaire from Hong Kong. It's just cool hanging out with millionaires and hearing about their lives and travels and whatnot.

I don't mean to say that millionaires are better than other people. Just that it's good to know all kinds of people; rich, poor, and average. I just never had a chance to hang out with many millionaires before I started network marketing. Of course it helps to achieve some level of success if you want to sit down with a millionair and have a few drinks - not everyone gets to do this. But at least you get a chance if you're in the right business.

The concept of network marketing has been present for over 70 years now and quite a few big businesses and brands took advantage of this marketing approach to enter the marketplace. It all begins in the late 1800's. The idea of multi level marketing that we are aware of will be shaped way later, but this phase in time is correlated to a major change in the sales industry. The plan of Stanley Home Products was the reinventing of the home based business and the invention of direct sales. But nonetheless it did not incorporate the multi level marketing aspect since there was only one parent company that permitted people to initiate a business by selling their products. There was no option for the distributors to build up their own network.

So when was network marketing or multi-level-marketing shaped? This was 14 years later in 1945 by a company called Nutrilite and their American distributors Mytinger & Casselberry. When a distributor achieved the level of 25 clients they were permitted to introduce a new distributor. With the intention of encouraging the distributor to coach a new distributor the best he could, they would give the distributor 2% over the entire sales volume of his organization once the organization counted 150 consumers.

A number of people see this as a pyramid scheme, but it is not. If we look from the standpoint of Nutrilite and Mytinger & Casselberry, they wished for selling more of their products. If one of their distributors is excellent and that distributor can coach others to increase their sales, it is valuable for the parent company. With the aim of making it advantageous for the distributors to teach other people, they offered them a commission over the entire sales volume. This arrangement can be seen as the first acknowledged network marketing compensation plan.

The motive for the expansion in the direction of network marketing lies within the fact that smaller companies were in search of a way to get their products to customers in rural areas. Multi level marketing was the answer for them.

Hereafter, progressively companies began to use the network marketing approach. Older but well-known companies are: Amway, Herbalife, Mary Kay, Pampered Chef, Avon, Jafra. There are as well numerous famous brands that approached the market via network marketing (E.g. Gillette, Avon, Colgate-Palmolive, Home Shopping Network Direct, Texas Instrument, Dupont and even AOL).

There is one significant moment in time I would like to bring up. In 1979 a decision of the court came out announcing that the network marketing compensation plan of Amway is a legitimate business opportunity and cannot be perceived as a pyramid scheme.

I will put an end to this article by offering some figures of the network marketing industry. Sales last year were over 100 billion USD. At present there are approximately 56 million people worldwide engaged in the network marketing industry. Network marketing companies activate in more than 100 countries worldwide. Network marketing products have been known to be some of the best products on the market. The network marketing business model allows for the company to cut out several levels from production of the products to the end consumers. With this strategy, comes the ability of the company to focus more intent on the quality of the network marketing products.

So there is no question why network marketing products are popular. However there is a big question from a business perspective. Does a product add to the ability for a person to attain more success in the mlm / network marketing / direct sales industry?

Now this is a somewhat controversial subject and you will get many different opinions about it. Some will say that the product a company has makes the difference between success and failure of all the distributors. From others you will hear that it doesn't really make that much difference.

So who is right? Well, coming from more than 10 years of experience in the industry, most of the people saying that their products made a huge impact on their success, are usually some of the top income earners in their company. Many times they are saying this so that people in their organization continue to be on their autoship. There are some people who the products truly did change their life completely and in most cases these people typically stay consumers for life but never really build a business. Now of course there are exceptions to this, but in the grand scale of the industry this is pretty much the reality.

There are also a lot of people who even suggest how much success a person can have in business because of their network marketing products. You have probably heard someone say, "This product is so great, it basically sells itself."

Well if that is really true, then I challenge the person who says this to take their product out of the box it came in, walk outside and put it down in the middle of your front yard. Now go back inside and check your company back office and see if you made any commissions. In fact leave it out there for a few days and then check your back office again. You will see that you did not make any money because the product did not sell itself.

In my opinion, network marketing products are some of the best products available. They have the ability to completely change an aspect of a person's life, whether that be physical, mental or both. The more change a person goes through in their life as a result of the product, the more likely they will stay involved at some level with that company.

Now when it comes to building a business however, in my opinion, the product is not nearly as important as the person who is building the business. I say this because people do business with people they know, like and trust. A person will only join or become a customer if these three factors are met.

Think about outside of this industry for one second and look at your past experiences of dealing with different sales reps. There is usually some that you remember as being magnificent in answering all your questions and making sure it's a great fit for you. There is also those ones that you actually left the store and bought it somewhere else because of the sales rep. The same applies with network marketing products and companies.

When it comes to network marketing products and the success in your business, in my opinion you have to be at least somewhat passionate about what you have to offer. This further enables your ability to attract people.

Now, with that said, since people do business with people they know, like and trust, I highly recommend you learn how to market yourself instead of your company or network marketing products. If you can learn how to brand yourself as a leader in the marketplace, you will attract far more people who want to be in business with you.

So as you are building your business just remember, people join people not companies or network marketing products. Network Marketing Tip Integrity Rules! By Hugh Jo

My wife and I had a long discussion about Integrity the other day. Apparently her supervisor had made a serious error and had accidentally leaked highly valuable information about a current project the company had been working on for the last two years.

The leak happened over a year ago and was just sitting there on the web for everyone, including competitors, to see. My wife had just joined her new company and within a month she discovered the error. She also knew that no one in the company, including the owner, was aware of the error.

The owner of the company made it very clear to my wife that she wanted to be kept in the loop on all issues, good or bad. And that this directive trumped any directive from any supervisor over my wife. My wife promised the owner complete transparency and would be forthcoming on all issues.

But now here she was torn between what to do. She knew if she forced her supervisor to come forward it could mean almost certain termination of her supervisor. To not come forward would mean breaking her promise to the owner that hired her and was trusting her to protect the company and its new product.

Possibly bringing herself down as complicit since she knew of the error and chose not to reveal but instead cover up or sit on the information.

I tried my best to help her either way. I knew she was going to have to do whatever it was that made her who she is. If she needed the supervisor to come clean, I painted the owner as a compassionate leader. If you bring a problem to the owner rather than letting them find out on their own, you stand a better chance of forgiveness.

I also wanted to give her an out. There is the chance the leak falls of deaf ears or if it is seen by the competition, they may not be in a position to take advantage. And the company still crosses the finish line first.

I knew this would be a tough one: compassion to someone with a family and a tough job market. My wife couldn't bear the thought of getting someone fired. Verses responsibility to the owner, to whom she promised loyalty and transparency. Possibly letting the competition get the best of them. And then eventually the owner would find out why. Imagine that aftermath...

Well the good news is my wife convinced her supervisor to come forward. The supervisor despite being terrified of the owner confessed to the error. And to the supervisors surprise the owner showed remarkable restraint and leadership.

Only time will tell whether the company successfully launched their new product first. But at least they are a strong team again.

We all have times in our lives where we have to make hard decisions. But once you realize who you really are, it does make those decisions a lot easier.

If you are looking to become a successful trader then you may want to consider trading correlated pairs. This style of trading is both a method of trading as well a system of finding entries and making very profitable exits. To make the whole thing easier to understand, let's first explain "correlated pairs."
There are some forex pairs that, for one reason or another, have a tenancy to move together. As an example, the Euro and the Pound. For somewhat obvious reasons, if the British Pound is getting stronger, that typically means good things for the eurozone in general and thus a strengthening Euro as well.
Currencies that are likely to be correlated are very often found in "trading blocks" such as the Euro and the Pound or the Australian Dollar and the New Zealand Dollar.
In fact, if you look at it historically, the most correlated pairs... or the pairs the most likely to move together, are EURUSD and GBPUSD. Right behind that are EURJPY and GBPJPY.
Now, if you look at it. The US Dollar and the Japanese Yen are also highly correlated as a result of their status as "safe haven" currencies thanks to the very large and developed economies. That means that EURJPY and GBPJPY are very likely to move with EURUSD and GBPUSD.
Take a look at what is being constructed. In all four cases the European currencies are on the "right" side of the currency cross and the "safe haven" currencies are on the "left" side of the currency cross.
That means that if you take a look at charts on the 4 hour or longer time frames, you should see these four pairs showing very similar patterns and directionality... and in fact that is the case. Those four pairs move together nearly 88% of the time.
Relatively safe trades can be found simply by finding times when those four are moving together and trading in the direction of that prevailing trend.
Of course that leads to a discussion on finding a strong prevailing trend during a time when you can make profits relatively quickly and easily.
So, lets talk about finding a basic entry. Finding an entry involves the use of two time frames. The first time frame used is the 1H... and for that you will want to look at Heiken Ashi candles. So, open chart windows for all four pairs, and add that indicator.
